Interview With Pecovam

We love to interview anyone that is into minifig customization, and get their views and inspirations. One name that is mentioned over and over again is Pecovam, so we thought we should seek this custom minifig legend out and he was kind enough to agree to be interviewed:

1. How did you first get into custom minifigs?

I got into customizing about 4 years ago. I got Gears of War 1 on xbox and my mom called me and told me she found all my old lego and she was going to throw it away! So I went and picked it up and on my way home I thought, I wonder if anyone makes Gears of War Lego creations. So I looked it up and saw the old AMA stuff, and from there the rest is history. I took about a two year break and then came back last September and it really took off from there.

2. Where do you get your ideas and inspiration from?

All of my ideas and inspiration mostly come from my favorite video games like Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty etc. But sometimes I will literally just go to google images and type in sci fi armor and see what I find. There are some great concepts from some very talented artists on the Internet that anyone can draw inspiration from.

3. Are there any customizers that you look up to, or inspire you?

Yes there are customizers that inspire me all the time. The main ones I would have to mention are Pedro-79, Geoshift, Jasbrick, and Studio Rayman. These four people are not only some of my good friends but I am constantly looking at their stuff for ways I can improve my painting, decal application, modding, etc. Basically the “four pillars” of customizing hahahaha. A good customizer can adapt to the material he is using and bring out it’s utmost effectiveness.

4. What do you think of the Lego Collectors series?

What I think about the collectible minifigure series is that they are great except they are yellow hahaha. I don’t like the old yellow look of Lego minifigures. I think it takes the realism right out of it. But yes I love the idea because with each new series, Lego is releasing new parts for guys like me to use which will only help our figs look better. And some of the figures are actually cool enough that I have some assembled on my “customs” shelf for display. That’s hard to do to get me to like a yellow minifigure hhaha.

5. Are you currently on any new projects?

Yes I am currently on a very large sculpting project for next years starting product for me and Pedro’s company Genesis customs. I will not say WHAT it is that I am making but I will say that there is going to be more Gears of War items(after all it is my favorite game!) and a few other things that I KNOW fans of custom Lego have been hoping for for a while now.
