Interview with A Civilian

There is a massive community of minifig customisers on Flickr uploading their latest minifigs daily, and sometimes it is quite a hard decision which ones to blog about. However when you start reading comments from fellow customisers saying what a high standard A Civilian is creating, then its time we got to know a bit more about Nick.

1. How did you first get into custom minifigures?

I first started customizing when I saw the Clone Wars on TV one day. I wanted to make a few of the clones from the show, so I started to sharpie and paint on their helmets. Soon I joined Flickr and saw all these amazing custom from people such as Pedro, Pecovcam, and Bansheeshe are just a few I saw. Then I just started to put paint on minifigures and I really liked doing it. I’m still just learning the basics about minifig customizing and I’m trying to improve a lot by getting tips from the pros.

2. Where do you get your ideas and inspiration from?

I get alot of my inspiration from Video Games such as The Fallout Series, Battlefield, and of course Call of Duty. I also Get my inspiration from many people in the Flickr community.

3. Are there any customizers that you look up to, or inspire you?

Yes,there are many customizers that I look up to and some day I wish to make things as good as they do. My main inspirations are Pedro, Bansheeshe, Pecovcam, Mclovin and Sean-Michael Griffin.

4. What do you think of the Lego Collectors series?

I personally love the Lego Collectors series. The parts that some of the minifigures have are great and I especially love the surprise of just opening up a bag and seeing what you got.

5. Are you currently on any new projects?

Currently I’m working on Brickarms mods, but I soon hope to make a new figure or two. I’m thinking I may do some more Apoc guys next but I haven’t really decided yet.

Thank you very much for asking me to do this interview, it was very fun.
