The Heavy Desert Troopers (HDTs) wear specialized armor that includes an expanded version of the environmental control system used by the Light Desert Infantry. In spite of its bulk, the armor keeps the soldier at an even temperature both during the harsh desert days and the cool nights. The armor can absorb an incredible amount of damage before the soldier is injured in any significant fashion. These squads have been known to clear entire combat areas, even while being vastly outnumbered.
